It’s been awhile since I posted a video so I thought I would let you see what’s going on. If you haven’t heard about Bruno, the new male version of me, check him out at Bruno Gabs! But don’t worry. I’m not going anywhere. I’m heading back in for a maintenance appointment soon with Kati at FUZION to see what “touch ups” I need to have done.
I have to let you in on a secret. I FEEL AMAZING! And I am starting to really feel like it shows. I have clients in my shop asking if I just went on vacation, friends who are jealous as all hell and I have a great story to share from this week.
So I left FUZION after getting another makeup lesson with Michelle and I have to say I was feeling great…really feeling like I was looking good—on top of the world! I stopped to get gas, when I got out of the car I smiled at the gentleman pumping gas next to me, went to put my credit card back in my wallet, and looked back at him. He asked “Should I know you? Are you famous or something?” I said “nope” and he said “You were just being friendly?” and I said “yes”…we both chuckled and before he left he said “good bye beautiful, friendly, not famous lady!”
It’s so funny. I was so hesitant and worried when we first started. But I have never felt so good about myself. I really am loving every minute of focusing on me…it’s such a sinful pleasure! Feeling this good ought to be illegal!
Kati and I sat down to review everything I have done so far, my results…and what else I want to do! We take a look at my before pictures [wow...what a difference!]. Can you tell a difference? I sure can!
What’s up next? We are going to do the Affirm laser treatment, IPL and another chemical peel. Kati explains everything [even cost], so take a look!
Okay, I am going through all of these procedures and feel like I have a much better understanding of what Kati uses, what’s available, how she uses her experience to create a custom plan for my face.
But I was at one of FUZION’s Thursday night events recently and loved how Kati was explaining the difference between all of the fillers she uses–Radiesse, Sculptra, Juvederm, and more.
Anyway, take a look, ask more questions and let me know what you think!
Today was so much fun! Kati and I got to go hang out at WTNH Channel 8 and film CT Style with Sonia again. This time we really got into the big picture story for Follow Erica, why we’re doing this, what I’m doing, how long I’ll be doing this, etc. I know it’s been 2 1/2 months so far, but I still get asked about what I’m doing all the time.
Okay, so this is a little different than a normal diary entry. But I was at FUZION and sat in on a client getting a “hand rejuvenation.” I had never heard of this and it is not something that I do not need yet, but Kati and her client said it was okay for me to watch and tape the procedure.
It was so crazy! I really never even thought of this, but Kati’s client wanted to work on her hands. She is 62, absoultely beautiful, but her hands were showing more wear and tear and she wanted to have Kati help her. So she had fillers injected in her hands. WOW. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that it took 10 years of her hands…at least! Who knew!!
Anyway, I was thinking this would be interesting–show some other procedures that I am not having done. What do you think? Are you interested? Anything in particular you want to see?
And don’t forget…next week is my big consultation with Dr. Goodkind for Smart Lipo!! Only 2 weeks away from my new jeans!!
Did you watch Youth Knows No Pain on HBO? I am still trying to process the emotional, mental thing that happens when you start to notice that you are not looking as young as you feel. All of a sudden your face is drooping, sagging, & not youthful anymore… What age did this start happening to me? None of my friends, family or husband said to me “by the way you are starting to look older!” But I was!!! Now after having paid attention to my aging face people are saying “You look great!” “What is different?” I don’t mind getting old but I don’t want to look or act old- This brings in the aging gracefully-What is your definition of aging gracefully?
With HBO documentaries, reality shows, books and very “overdone” celebrities in the media it is hard to understand that there is a difference between “reality” and “REAL” beauty! The keys to attaining a “realistic” and rejuvenated appearance is finding the right aesthetic professionals. They must have the knowledge of complex facial anatomy and physiology, bone structure, Chemistry, Physics and Geometry!
OMG! YES, I said Chemistry, Physics and Geometry! As a student I never knew how much I would actually use these fields of science! Let me explain, Chemistry allows us to understand the products, the reactions in YOUR body, and how they will hold up. These vary from person to person and depend on medications, illnesses and the specific products themselves. Physics tells me how product will lie in the face, where to place it to lift, fill and augment your bone structure. It is NOT always obvious where dermal fillers need to be placed. Finally, Geometry – not the Pathagorean Theorum, but simple trianges. When we are young out faces are fuller at the midface – or cheek area. This fullness creates a frame around the eye and draws the observers eye up from the lips, out to the cheeks and then to the eyes – this is the “youth triangle.” Unfortunately as we age the triangle flips. The cheeks lose volume, the nose becomes the focus and then the lower face – around the jowls draws the eye down. During the process of this unfortunate “flip” of triangles is when we start to notice our descent from youth! See, another reason to hate geometry.
These reality shows, such as TLC’s “Addicted to Beauty,” shows the “ugly side of beauty.” Perception is NOT reality in this case. These dramatic cast members, and patients sadly effected with a psychological body dismorphia that is more appropriately treated by a Pshychological Professional. The average person is scared to death to look “overdone,” they just know that they want to look better. We need to separate sensational from sensationalism. I urge all of you to keep learning; ask questions; know your aesthetic professional; know the qualifications; learn about who they are – as a medical professional and as an artist. The combination of art and science in the right doses, as with ANY medication, will lead to the most realistic beauty. Feel free to ask me your questions [you can email me at kati@fuzionct.com if you don't want to post them here] – just not math questions!
