It was my first step to freshening up my skin for the new season…Affirm Laser treatment. It is to help stimulate the collagen in my skin. I did find out that we can stimulate the collagen in other areas of my body-hmmmm! We will save that for another day.
So I have the treatment, it stings a little, turns my face red, Michelle (make up artist) helps hide the redness, and I am off to a meeting- Watch the video to see what happened:
By the next morning the dots faded, my skin is a little dry like I had a bad sunburn. I lathered on the moisturizer and sunscreen and went to work and no one noticed!
Gotta love modern beauty treatments!
That was a question I saw on one of my friends on facebook…she asked “Clairsonic, is it worth the money?” I LOVE MY CLAIRSONIC!!! I don’t bring it to Vermont when we go for the weekend and boy do I look forward to washing my face on Sunday nights! So much cleaner than just using my hands! It is like giving myself a facial everyday. My skin not only looks better when I use it but feels better! Stop by FUZION for a skin consult and ask to borrow a loaner…yes they loan them to clients! You won’t regret spending the money!
Kati and I sat down to review everything I have done so far, my results…and what else I want to do! We take a look at my before pictures [wow...what a difference!]. Can you tell a difference? I sure can!
What’s up next? We are going to do the Affirm laser treatment, IPL and another chemical peel. Kati explains everything [even cost], so take a look!
Time to check in with Dr. Goodkind on my Smart Lipo progress! And I [of course] brought along the video camera to share my consult with you. Dr. Goodkind takes a look at his handy work to see how I am doing.
I had a few questions for Dr. G:
• When can I start exercising [he said yes, I can now]
• Is it going to go down more in swelling/size [yes]
• Do I still have to wear the compression garment [at night if I want to]
• Should I be massaging myself [yes-it will help with the scar tissue]
• Is the itching okay [yes-that means it is healing]
I am sharing more with all of you than I ever have in my life. But this is so cool. If I could have really seen what to expect from Smart Lipo and all these other procedures, I may not have hesitated so much about doing it!
So what should you expect from these videos? We’ve broken them up into multiple videos so you can scroll through and we are giving you a lot to learn about. I think we are going to add a simplified summary video later, but the point of this is to share, so I want to make sure you get a real sense of what my Smart Lipo day was like.
We started by going over the information, waivers, additional questions and re-drew my bullseyes. Then Dr. Goodkind measured of 5×5 squares on my bullseyes so he perform the procedure in smaller sections.
Next, we got started! Dr. Goodkind did phase 1 of 3 for my procedure by heating the fat. Careful…this starts to get graphic from here on out…
Now comes the real graphic stuff…it’s suction time. Seriously, if you get queasy easily, you may want to be careful watching this. But I have to tell you, I was awake and yapping away during this. So I was okay!
Here is where we do my knees
And here is post-procedure when we go over my rules, talk more about “vigorous” exercising, etc…
So what do you think? Was it as bad as you thought? Better? Would you do it?
Well, it’s time for the big Smart Lipo consultation. Let me just say…I hope everyone appreciates the fact that I videotaped me in my underwear getting bullseyes drawn on my body to share this experience with you! Seriously though, the consultation wasn’t as scary as I thought it was going to be.
The consultation included Dr. Goodkind telling me about Smart Lipo, me asking questions, disrobing to make a plan, and then reviewing where and what we want to do. So I broke the videos up into a few separate clips so that you could easily see everything.
Did I forget to ask any important questions? What do you think? Should I get it all done?
Okay…call me silly. I know that I have to get a lot of questions answered, and get mentally prepared for my consultation with Dr. Goodkind. But ladies…I’ve got to prioritize.
After all, I am going to be IN MY UNDERWEAR in front of all of you! I have to make sure I have a good set on!
Okay, I am getting excited [and nervous]. Next week is my BIG consult with Dr. Goodkind. We are going to officially decide what areas we are going to go after with SmartLipo! I am going to be doing lots of research, posting links and information I find on SmartLipo [maybe even try to figure out which celebrities have done it!] over the next few days. I’ll keep you posted on when the big day is, but I think it is Thursday.
With HBO documentaries, reality shows, books and very “overdone” celebrities in the media it is hard to understand that there is a difference between “reality” and “REAL” beauty! The keys to attaining a “realistic” and rejuvenated appearance is finding the right aesthetic professionals. They must have the knowledge of complex facial anatomy and physiology, bone structure, Chemistry, Physics and Geometry!
OMG! YES, I said Chemistry, Physics and Geometry! As a student I never knew how much I would actually use these fields of science! Let me explain, Chemistry allows us to understand the products, the reactions in YOUR body, and how they will hold up. These vary from person to person and depend on medications, illnesses and the specific products themselves. Physics tells me how product will lie in the face, where to place it to lift, fill and augment your bone structure. It is NOT always obvious where dermal fillers need to be placed. Finally, Geometry – not the Pathagorean Theorum, but simple trianges. When we are young out faces are fuller at the midface – or cheek area. This fullness creates a frame around the eye and draws the observers eye up from the lips, out to the cheeks and then to the eyes – this is the “youth triangle.” Unfortunately as we age the triangle flips. The cheeks lose volume, the nose becomes the focus and then the lower face – around the jowls draws the eye down. During the process of this unfortunate “flip” of triangles is when we start to notice our descent from youth! See, another reason to hate geometry.
These reality shows, such as TLC’s “Addicted to Beauty,” shows the “ugly side of beauty.” Perception is NOT reality in this case. These dramatic cast members, and patients sadly effected with a psychological body dismorphia that is more appropriately treated by a Pshychological Professional. The average person is scared to death to look “overdone,” they just know that they want to look better. We need to separate sensational from sensationalism. I urge all of you to keep learning; ask questions; know your aesthetic professional; know the qualifications; learn about who they are – as a medical professional and as an artist. The combination of art and science in the right doses, as with ANY medication, will lead to the most realistic beauty. Feel free to ask me your questions [you can email me at kati@fuzionct.com if you don't want to post them here] – just not math questions!
